Debunking Common Myths About Solar Panel Kits For Rvs

Posted on

When you spend a lot of time in your RV, it becomes blatantly clear just how important it is that everything in the unit be as efficient as possible. You must ensure your fixtures do not utilize a lot of water, that your appliances do not use a lot of power, and you especially must make sure that the whole unit does not require a great deal of electricity to function.

One of the easiest ways to ensure your RV is as efficient as it should be is to install RV solar panels on the vehicle. However, there are a lot of big myths about solar panel kits for RVs that get in the way of owners opting for this solution.

Myth: Solar panel kits are hard to install on an RV.

Of all of the myths out there about these modern fixtures, this one is the most prevailing. The truth is, solar panel kits for RVs, and just about anything else, have gotten much easier to install over the years. RV solar panel kits often come with basic DIY mounting and wiring instructions that even someone with little to no experience could follow. You will be placing a few mounting brackets to the panels, routing the wires to the power storage batteries, and making simple connections.

Myth: Solar panel kits are expensive, so the investment isn't worth the cost in savings.

Making an investment in a solar panel kit for your RV is something that will save you money for years down the road. Not only that, but buying these kits is nowhere near as expensive as most RV owners expect. You could easily recoup your investment cost with just a handful of RV trips if you use your RV for prolonged periods out on the road. Obtaining the components for a small solar power setup will probably run you about $437.

Myth: Solar power isn't all that necessary for most RVs.

Sure, there are cost savings involved if you convert your RV over to solar power. However, there is also something else to consider: when you do not have to rely on electricity, it opens up the door of opportunity for you to park your RV just about anywhere for a prolonged period without having to be plugged in. This means you can also save money on camping spots because you will not be limited to only those that have power available.
